Private dinner in a courtyard, Seville

Who it is for

Groups we plan private tours for

Sardines grilling on a charcoal brazier in a cobbled Lisbon street with tiled houses

01

Birthdays and anniversaries

A 50th in the Douro during the harvest, a 40th anniversary over a long lunch in Chianti. We plan the days around your date.

Rings of smoked Texas sausage with crackers, white bread, onion and pickles on butcher paper

02

Friends and reunions

College friends who promised each other a barbecue road trip, or a week of pintxos. We find a table big enough for all of you.

Straw-wrapped komodaru sake barrels stacked outside a wooden sake brewery in Takayama, Japan

03

Company retreats

A pasta class as team building, a sake tasting in Kyoto, a cellar dinner for the sales team. Invoices in your company name, in US dollars.

Chicken in dark mole negro with sesame, rice and warm tortillas in Oaxaca

04

Supper clubs and cooks

Groups who cook at home and want to learn from the source: a Oaxacan mole cook, a Bologna pasta maker, a Texas pitmaster.

How it works

From first email to the first course

Write to [email protected] with the size of your group, the months that suit you and what you would most like to eat.

  1. Tell us about the group

How many of you, roughly when, which destination, and any diets or allergies. A few lines is enough.

  2. A call with Grant

Thirty minutes on the phone or on Zoom to talk through the route, the pace, the rooms and the menus.

  3. A written proposal

Day-by-day plan, hotels, meals and a price per person. Changes are free until you say yes.

  4. Deposit and details

A $300 deposit per person holds the dates. Priya then collects rooms, names and every dietary note, and sends them to each kitchen.

  5. The tour

Your own local host, van and table, with the same cooks, producers and winemakers who teach our group tours.

Questions about private tours

Write to Grant

Grant Mosley plans every private group himself and replies within two working days.

How many people do we need?

Six at least. Up to 12 travel with one host and van, the same as our group tours; larger groups, up to about 24, get a second host and are split at smaller tables.

Can we change the route?

Yes. Any of our 16 tours can be shortened, lengthened or given an extra class or winery. Grant will say honestly if a change makes the trip worse.

Can you plan around a mixed group?

Yes. Vegetarians, non-drinkers and one guest with a shellfish allergy is a normal private group for us, in Europe or at home. We plan each menu around the whole table.

How is a private tour priced?

Per person, based on the route, the dates, the group size, the rooms and the meals. Grant sends a written proposal with the price before you commit to anything.
